Kirchenwirt in Graz-Mariatrost has been a restaurant and hotel for more than 300 years.
Established in the late 17th century as a restaurant with adjoining lodgings for pilgrims, since 1919 it has been run by three successive generations of the Pfeifer family. Starting in the 1990's, an independent catering operation has been developed alongside the restaurant and hotel business with separate seminar facilities, which, as well as the attendees of a broad range of different functions, also indulges the guests and employees of the Graz opera house with culinary delights.
The takeover of Gasthaus Stainzerbauer, another long standing Graz restaurant establishment, by Josef Pfeifer III in 2005 made it possible to extend the offering to the Graz city centre. Hotel guests may book special packets, combining a stay at Kirchenwirt with a visit to Gasthaus Stainzerbauer.
